The Inspiration behind Kikabu Seekers

Our adventures are inspired by the universe of “Kikabu – Tale of Twins,” a South African fantasy novel by Stefan Potgieter. While reading the book adds rich context, it’s NOT REQUIRED MATERIAL to enjoy the journey.

Every good adventure has to have scary parts, but our Seekers storylines are family-friendly and intentionally free of the darker, occult undertones often found in fantasy media. We welcome dialogue and open-hearted conversation around this theme and the concept of fantasy and faith

KIKABU – Tale of Twins (story outline)

Twin brother and sister, Vin and Nina Lightfoot have never met their grandfather. They were told by their parents that he passed away shortly after their birth. On the 10th of October 2010, however, they each discover strange and mysterious birthday gifts and decide it best to keep them hidden. Should children really have to tell their parents every little secret?

Rachel Lightfoot has many unresolved issues. There’s her scarred hands for one and then her husband, who cannot let go of the fact that his dad might still be alive somewhere. They have not seen Adam since his disappearance, ten years before and should really accept the painful fact that he is, more than likely, dead. If only the eccentric old dreamer had not left them his cryptic note…

Thomas knows that he needs to move on with his life, not just for the sake of his sanity, but also for his family and for Siyanda Mphanza, his father’s lifelong friend and co-owner of Kikabu farm. It is clearly easier said than done as strange incidents start happening around them. There are things lurking in the uncharted Eastern Forest that will not stay hidden forever… Sometimes family secrets have the strangest way of coming to light and as events unfold, the Lightfoots uncover a mystery that spans generations and crosses the dimensions of time and space.

So much more is at stake than anyone could ever have imagined and maybe, just maybe, Grandpa Adam was not as crazy as everyone thought.
